    Zubereitung

    1

Bring the soy milk, maple syrup, vanilla, and salt to a boil in a saucepan, stirring.

    2

Add the rice pudding rice (unwashed!) and bring everything to a boil again, stirring constantly.

    3

Then reduce the heat to the lowest setting, cover the saucepan, and let your protein rice pudding swell for about 25-35 minutes. Stir regularly so that the rice does not stick to the bottom of the pan.

    4

In the meantime, you can prepare your apple compote. To do this, bring some apple juice and finely chopped apple pieces to a boil in a saucepan. After about 6-8 minutes, the juice will have almost evaporated, and you can add the sugar. Let this mixture caramelize for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, and you’ll have a delicious rice pudding topping.

    5

Remove the protein rice pudding from the heat a little earlier or later, depending on your desired consistency, and set it aside briefly.

    6

Mix the protein powder smoothly into 50 ml soy milk and stir everything into the rice pudding.

    7

Pour the protein rice pudding into a bowl and serve it with apple compote and, if desired, additional toppings such as cinnamon or berries.

    Recipe Note

It's best to eat your protein rice pudding while it's still warm, as that's when it's creamiest. At the same time, protein rice pudding can also be a great meal-prep recipe - you can prepare the rice and have a high-protein snack ready to go for the next few days. Feel free to add a little more milk here, as the protein powder thickens further and your rice pudding could otherwise become quite firm. Just stir it vigorously again before eating and add fresh toppings!

Delicious variations of your protein rice pudding

The great thing about protein rice pudding is that you can vary it endlessly. Depending on the season, your taste, and your preferences, you can reinvent it completely.

    • Summer berry version: Fresh strawberries, raspberries, or blueberries as a topping turn your protein rice pudding into the perfect breakfast on warm days. The fruit adds natural sweetness, so you can skip the extra sugar. Try our berry protein powder with it!

    • Chocolate version: Add a spoonful of cocoa powder to the pot - and you have a dessert that tastes like chocolate pudding but provides significantly more protein per serving. Perfect for all sweet tooths who are mindful of their diet. Our product recommendation: chocolate protein powder!

    • Christmas speculoos version: Cinnamon, cardamom, and a hint of clove transform your rice pudding into a festive highlight. Vetain speculoos protein powder pairs perfectly with it!

    • Nutty surprise: Nut protein as a base and a generous dollop of nut butter on top. Creamy, nutty, and simply delicious!

What are the best toppings for protein rice pudding?

A good protein rice pudding only becomes truly special with the right toppings. Here are a few ideas:

    • Vetain nut butters are the perfect creamy addition to your fitness rice pudding. Whether almond, cashew, or hazelnut - simply stir in a spoonful or add it as a swirl on top.

    • Seasonal fruit adds variety: berries and apple in summer, pear or plum in autumn, and baked-apple pieces in winter. This way, your recipe never gets boring.

    • Crunchy elements like granola, chopped nuts, or coconut flakes add a delicious surprise.

    • Spices are the finishing touch: Vanilla is a classic, and cinnamon goes without saying. But cardamom can also take the flavor of your protein rice pudding to a whole new level.

Why should you make high-protein rice pudding yourself?

Fair question - ready-made high-protein rice pudding products from the supermarket do sound tempting: open the lid, dig in with a spoon, done. But honestly: Have you ever taken a closer look at the ingredients list? Added sugar, artificial sweeteners, and ingredients that you first have to Google to find out what they actually are are often hiding there. Many products aren't vegan, come in the "wrong" flavor, or the protein gets lost somewhere among the flavors and flavor enhancers.

When you make your rice pudding with protein powder yourself, you have complete control. You decide on the flavor, toppings, sweetness, which milk you use, and how creamy the result turns out. And yes, it's also cheaper - with the money you save, you might even be able to buy a few delicious protein bars. ;)

One more thing: Homemade means warm. Really warm, straight from the pot, with that wonderful steam rising. Obviously, no refrigerated product in the world can do that!

And if you're wondering why you should stir your protein into rice pudding at all instead of just quickly drinking it as a shake: Protein powder is allowed to be fun! Nothing against shakes, but sometimes you simply need more than just liquid. A warm meal that tastes delicious while also supporting your nutritional goals - that's protein rice pudding made from scratch in a nutshell.

      Frequently asked questions

Yes, rice pudding with water instead of milk is possible. However, the consistency becomes less creamy and the taste more subtle. If you want to cook rice pudding with water, we recommend stirring in some plant milk or extra protein powder at the end. This is how you get the creaminess back.

Yes, Vetain's rice pudding is a delicious alternative to classic rice pudding. It's almost as creamy, super versatile and really delicious with the right toppings!

Rice pudding & protein? Yes, that fits together. This is despite the fact that classic rice pudding only provides around 3-5 g of protein per 100 g. Because with protein powder, a good recipe can quickly achieve 20-30 g of protein per serving. And yes: With plant milk and vegan protein powder, the high protein rice pudding recipe is completely plant-based.

Instead of table sugar, you can use natural sweeteners: maple syrup, agave syrup or dates. For many people, this is what constitutes a “healthy rice pudding”. Some protein powders already have a slight sweetness, so you often don't need to sweeten as much.

For protein rice pudding, we recommend around 60 g of “raw” rice pudding for 1 serving. If you are particularly hungry, you can of course make more. Likewise, if you just want a small snack, you can only prepare half the portion.
