Traditional Indian Lentil Dal

If you love oriental food as much as we do, you have to try this recipe! A super delicious, traditional Indian lentil dal with excellent nutritional values. Best served with rice.

  • 62.5 g red lentils
  • 0.25 large onion
  • 0.5 cloves garlic
  • 0.25 large piece ginger
  • 0.25 hot chili
  • 0.25 tbsp garam masala
  • 0.25 tbsp cumin
  • 0.125 tbsp turmeric
  • 0.25 tsp chili flakes
  • 0.25 can pureed tomatoes
  • 50 ml coconut milk
  • water

Instructions

First, finely chop the onion, garlic, ginger, and chili. Then add coconut oil to a pan and heat. Sauté the chopped ingredients briefly on high heat and add the spices.

Now add the lentils, cover with water, and let simmer with the lid on for 5–10 minutes.

Next, add the pureed tomatoes and let simmer again for 5–10 minutes. Once the lentils are still slightly firm, add the coconut milk.

When the lentils are soft, it’s ready to serve. Enjoy!
