Vegan protein powder – high quality & clean
Protein powders are now part of everyday life for many people. And in addition to athletes, non-athletes are also increasingly turning to shakes to easily increase their protein intake in everyday life. For good reason: Proteins are one of the three main nutrients and are involved in many processes in our body. For example, they contribute to the increase and maintenance of muscle mass.
Anyone who is new to the protein game quickly asks themselves the question: whey or vegan protein powder? Which protein to buy? Short explanation: Whey is an animal protein powder, while vegan powders do not contain animal ingredients and instead rely on vegetable proteins. We at Vetain have chosen the vegan option and developed a delicious vegan protein powder. In addition to good nutritional values, something more was important to us: We also want to work sustainably and fairly and use real, natural ingredients.
The big goal was always clear: to develop the best vegan protein powder in the world!
We will briefly introduce you to our vision, our motivation and our products.
Why vegan protein powder?
Why vegan protein powder? Whey has already conquered the market?!
Vegan powders are an increasingly popular alternative to animal whey, for various reasons:
- Minimize animal suffering: We don't want animals to suffer for our shakes. We believe that in the 21st century, animals no longer need to be exploited so that we can drink delicious cocoa with proteins. Especially when there is such a simple alternative.
- Vegan diet: Of course, anyone who follows a vegan diet probably won't want to resort to animal shakes. Since vegan nutrition is becoming more and more relevant and more and more vegans like to go to the gym, it's really time for a vegan protein powder.
- Compatibility: Some people, such as those who are lactose intolerant, simply do not tolerate cow's milk products well. Vegan options can also be a practical alternative for them.
Admittedly, in the past vegan shakes were often not really tasty, the consistency was terrible and they often didn't have the best protein content. This wasn't because vegan protein powders are generally bad, but simply because there was far less research and development in this direction. Fortunately, things have changed in recent years and vegan products can now easily compete with animal products. So when someone asks us, “Why vegan protein powder?” we answer “Why not?”.

There is one thing we have to briefly address: The The taste From our vegan protein powder.
Because it is different than what you might know from animal whey products. The reason? Our powders contain natural ingredients that simply have a slight taste of their own, which can be surprising at first. We also rely on natural flavors & sweeteners, which taste a little less intense compared to artificial flavors and harsh sweeteners. We also notice with our customers that it often just takes a little time for their taste buds to adjust and for natural aromas to be perceived more strongly again. Our taste buds are often “dulled” by strong flavors and extremely sweetened products. So give yourself a little time to get used to the new, real taste and to taste natural aromas again. For the transition, you can help with a banana or some fruit in the shake.

You can find out more about our sustainable packaging in our blog article “As a social startup looking for the most sustainable packaging“.
Our protein also scores points in terms of sustainability when it comes to inner values. Because we source many of our ingredients from organic farming in Germany and the EU. In general, we pay attention to local cultivation and production in the EU. We also use the climate-neutral shipping from DHL GoGreen.
Fun fact: The fact that our protein powder is vegan also makes it particularly environmentally friendly and sustainable. Many vegan raw materials protect the environment and resources. In addition, like all other vegan foods, our vegan protein powder does not cause any animal suffering.
But that's not enough for us: with every purchase you do something good for the environment. For each product we plant two mangroves in Madagascar with our partner EdenProjects and donate 10 cents to our partner CleanHub.

Who is our vegan protein powder suitable for?
The short answer: Theoretically for everyone. It doesn't matter whether you're a vegan or a meat eater. Because plant-based protein is basically an option for everyone who is interested in protein powder. Vegan protein powders are often quickly dismissed as nonsense or disgusting alternatives, but that is by no means the case. For many (including non-vegans), our products have even proven to be a more popular alternative and some of our customers were previously strong whey advocates.
To ensure that our vegan protein powder is a suitable choice for as many people as possible, we avoid soy and many other allergens in our powders. We know that many of you have problems with this, so we're simply removing it from our ingredient list. For the same reasons the powder is also gluten-free. It is also an option for people with gluten intolerance.
Vegan protein – can it really be good?
Passionate athletes know that in addition to a high protein content, the amino acid profile is also important when it comes to protein powder. Amino acids are the basic building blocks of all proteins. The goal of all protein fans is always to achieve a "complete amino acid profile", which means that all essential amino acids (EAAs) are absorbed. Essential amino acids are those that our body cannot produce (sufficiently) itself. Whey has a complete amino acid profile naturally. Many vegan protein powders are initially in a much worse position: very few vegan protein sources contain all of the essential amino acids. But we at Vetain know about it and solve the problem: We combine different plant-based protein sources whose properties complement each other perfectly. This means our plant-based protein powder has a complete amino acid profile!
