If you love falafel, bowls, or finger food, you absolutely have to try this tahini sauce! The recipe combines the freshness of lemons with the creamy nuttiness of sesame paste and the sharpness of garlic. The result: possibly the best sauce ever!

Zubereitung
Squeeze the lemon and finely chop the garlic.
Put tahini, lemon juice, garlic, and salt in a bowl and stir well. Don’t be surprised: the mixture will first become thick and lumpy – only in the next step will the sesame sauce become really creamy.
Alternatively, you can simply put all ingredients in a high-speed blender and blend for 30 seconds to 1 minute.
Slowly whisk the hot water into the mixture with a small whisk.
Optionally season the tahini sauce with cumin, chili flakes, and a little olive oil, then stir vigorously one last time.
Recipe Note
Is this perhaps the tastiest way to use tahini? We think: Yes! This sesame sauce is our go-to sauce for all kinds of dishes.
How can you use the sesame sauce?
Are you still looking for recipes with tahini sauce? Here they are, our favorite ideas:
- Bowls: The tahini sauce for bowls turns your boring bowl into a premium edition. Create your bowl however you like and top it with the sauce – simply heavenly.
- Sandwiches and Wraps: This sesame sauce must be on your list for your next snack. Whether you spread your sandwich with fresh hummus or fill your wrap with vegetables – the sauce simply completes your dish.
- Roasted Vegetables with Tahini Sauce: Just chop your favorite vegetables, add some oil, salt, and spices of your choice (I recommend paprika powder, garlic powder, and a bit of cumin), and roast the vegetables at 180 °C in the oven. Top the roasted vegetables with toasted sesame seeds after baking and enjoy them with the tahini sauce.
- Falafel: As an Arabic falafel sauce with tahini, the sauce is traditionally enjoyed with falafel. The little balls taste twice as good with the fresh sauce.
- You can also use the sauce as a tahini dip. I'll explain how in the next section.
Quick tip: If you want to make tahini sauce yourself, it's best to make a fairly large amount right away. You can store it in the fridge for several days to weeks and always have it ready for various dishes.

Tahini Sauce as a Dip | Vetains 2 in 1 Recipe
You can quickly turn this tahini sauce into a delicious tahini dip for vegetable sticks, breadsticks, or summer rolls.
Simply reduce the amount of water until the cream reaches the perfect dip consistency for you. Since the water is added very slowly anyway, you can easily catch the right moment. I like to add some cumin and a swirl of olive oil as a topping on the dip.
If you’re in the mood for more dips, our hummus and mutabal are definitely for you. Take a look.
Delicious variations | How to make your sesame sauce even tastier?
Do you like it spicy? Love peanut or always want a dollop of yogurt? With this basic recipe, you can create your favorite sauce variations yourself.
Simply adjust the tahini sauce recipe accordingly:
- Spicy Tahini Sauce: Add some chili flakes to your sauce. Alternatively, you can add a few drops of your favorite hot sauce – the combination of nutty tahini and the fiery heat of chilies is absolutely unique.
- Yogurt Tahini Sauce: Just stir a spoonful of yogurt into your sauce. If you like it extra creamy, you can reduce the amount of water a bit. This way, the yogurt stands out even more.
- Peanut Tahini Sauce: I love adding a spoonful of peanut butter to the sauce. With this variation, you can quickly change the flavor of the sauce and adapt it to your dish. Especially for Asian bowls, this is a secret tip. So simple, so nutty, so good.
Of course, you can always add fresh herbs like parsley, coriander, or mint to the sauce. The combination with pomegranate syrup also tastes super delicious.
Tahini from Vetain – the insider tip for delicious tahini sauces
For this recipe, we use our tahini made from hulled, roasted organic sesame seeds. The gentle roasting gives it a mild and pleasantly nutty flavor, without the typical bitterness found in some sesame pastes. The texture is super fine and creamy, making the tahini easy to incorporate into dressings, sauces, or sweet recipes. It works well for savory classics like hummus or bowls as well as sweet combinations, for example in energy balls.
Our tahini consists of only one ingredient and contains no added sugar, palm oil, or other additives. Because we believe: pure and clean is simply the best.
